Under 11 Kynog United V Kilcock Shield match

Kynog Utd 1 - 3 Kilcock Celtic

Kynog were slow to start and paid dearly for it as Kilcock eased into the Shield Final. Kiclock went in front early as Darren Droney fired home from the edge of the box. Stephen Gildea put Kilcock two up just before half-time as a Kynog were slow to react to a ball breaking in the box as Kilcock dominated the first half.

Kynog looked a different team at the start of the second half as they looked to get themselves into the match and created a few half-chances before Dylan Smullen scored with only 10 minutes to go to get themselves back into the game. The final ten minutes were a real cup-tie cracker as Kynog threw everything at Kilcock while Kilcock looked to finish Kynog off with a third. Adam Lynch of Kynog nearly took the match into extra-time but his effort came back off the post before Kilcock finally put the game beyond Kynog as Darren Droney converted a penalty despite the best effort of Kynog's keeper Reece Winders, and to complete Kynog's misery, midfielder Glen Thorpe was carried from the field with a nasty knee injury with time running out after another fine game, while Kilcock can look forward to the final.

The deadlock was broken when David Hyland shot beat Cian Gilligan just before half time. The game resumed with both teams upping their game. Under 7 kynog United V Kill

On a beautiful sunny morning Kill Celtic travelled to Kynog Park. The last game of the season was definately the most exciting with it being a draw match until the final few minutes.

Kill Celtic opened the score with a great goal from Conor Jameson in the first few minutes. Kynog United fought back with Thomas Fallon who had a great game hitting the back of the Kill Celtic net. In the 2nd ten minutes of the first half Killian Burke scored for Kill Celtic and Thomas Fallon of Kynog United again responded with the help of his team mates Emmett Donoghue, Adam Dempsey and Evan Hunt to equalise the game. The scored stayed like this until the last 10 minutes of the 4th half when Kill Celtic got the better of the younger Kynog players adding another 3 scores one each for Killian Burke, Jack McGuire and Craig Bates leaving the final score Kill Celtic 5 Kynog Utd 2.

Kynogs younger players namely Cian Casey, Adam Condon, Liam Brady and Ger O'Connor have to be commended on their ever improving skills and dedication to the game.

Under 11 Kynog United V Arlington

Kynog Utd 6 - 2 Arlington

On a windy evening in Timahoe, Kynog and Arlington put on a cracking cup match to keep the large crowd entertained. Kynog were quick out of the blocks and Arlington found themselves pinned in their own half, and it was no surprise when Adam Lynch turned his marker and found the bottom corner to give Kynog the lead. Kynog extended their lead minutes later as Glen Thorpe's square ball was turned into the net by an unlucky defender. David Randles was next on the scoresheet as he drove the ball high into the net after a great run down the right. Arlington were finding it hard to break out, and Kynog scored their fourth as Mark Maguire released Adam Toman and his cross was turned in at the back post by Glen Thorpe. Kynog completed their best half of the season as David Randles broke on the left and his low cross was expertly flicked into the corner of the net by Adam Lynch.

Into the second half and Arlington started brightly and got their reward as Robbie Whelan scored with a low shot into the corner. Kynog's Adam Lynch was on the look out for his hat-trick and his team-mates gave him every chance as Craig Harris, Dylan Casey (who was unlucky to hit the bar himself) and Glen Thorpe all found the Kynog striker but he was denied by some excellent goalkeeping, while Cathal Mattimoe was also unlucky not to add to Kynog's total. Kynog did add a sixth however, with the move of the match as David Randles and Adam Lynch combined to release Glen Thorpe and his cross was driven home by the in-rushing Adam Toman. To their credit, Arlington refused to give up and they got their second as Jamie Hanlon chased a long ball into the Kynog box and slid the ball home to complete the scoring and bring the curtain down on an excellent game of football.
