Under 11 Kynog United V Arlington

Kynog Utd 6 - 2 Arlington

On a windy evening in Timahoe, Kynog and Arlington put on a cracking cup match to keep the large crowd entertained. Kynog were quick out of the blocks and Arlington found themselves pinned in their own half, and it was no surprise when Adam Lynch turned his marker and found the bottom corner to give Kynog the lead. Kynog extended their lead minutes later as Glen Thorpe's square ball was turned into the net by an unlucky defender. David Randles was next on the scoresheet as he drove the ball high into the net after a great run down the right. Arlington were finding it hard to break out, and Kynog scored their fourth as Mark Maguire released Adam Toman and his cross was turned in at the back post by Glen Thorpe. Kynog completed their best half of the season as David Randles broke on the left and his low cross was expertly flicked into the corner of the net by Adam Lynch.

Into the second half and Arlington started brightly and got their reward as Robbie Whelan scored with a low shot into the corner. Kynog's Adam Lynch was on the look out for his hat-trick and his team-mates gave him every chance as Craig Harris, Dylan Casey (who was unlucky to hit the bar himself) and Glen Thorpe all found the Kynog striker but he was denied by some excellent goalkeeping, while Cathal Mattimoe was also unlucky not to add to Kynog's total. Kynog did add a sixth however, with the move of the match as David Randles and Adam Lynch combined to release Glen Thorpe and his cross was driven home by the in-rushing Adam Toman. To their credit, Arlington refused to give up and they got their second as Jamie Hanlon chased a long ball into the Kynog box and slid the ball home to complete the scoring and bring the curtain down on an excellent game of football.
