Fans of You’re a Star competitor Simon Casey, will be only too delighted to hear that he is playing the Riverbank on Saturday 13th September next.

Simon Casey finally got his big break by being in the right place at the right time. Few people could have predicted that this year’s contest to find an Irish representative for the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest would turn out to be one of the most popular TV shows ever in Ireland.

Young student Simon Casey, who had his heart set on a singing career, never imagined in his wildest dreams that You’re A Star would change his life. It proved to be the perfect showcase for Simon’s Impressive vocal ability and the massive TV audience fell in love with the sincere and affable young singer. Despite being pipped at the post for a place in the Eurovision Song Contest with Westlife star Bryan McFadden’s song, A Better Plan, Simon Casey established his credentials as an awe-inspiring performer with enormous potential.

It’s a long way from his first public performance when he played a shepherd in his school’s Christmas Nativity play at the age of six. His love of the stage was nurtured through Speech and Drama classes as a kid, and later, through his local Ballycumber Variety Club.

His high profile on prime time TV through You’re A Star has given Simon superstar status in Ireland. Although he admits to being ‘very quiet, a bit shy and easily embarrassed’, the newcomer is learning to enjoy life in the public eye.

Simon signed up to Universal Music in Ireland, and having deferred his Business Studies course, he’s now concentrating full-time on a singing career. “ The record deal will give me access to great songs and I now have the chance of a lifetime to record an amazing album,” he says.
