NAAS, 8 August 2002: by Brian Byrne. The real success of twinning between communities is for the youth of those communities, chairman of the Omaha Sister Cities Association Larry Eubner said on the last day of the Omaha delegation's stay in Naas.

"It opens a complete new vista in life for them, and our young people have experienced several life-changing events in our twinnings with our other sister cities," he told KNN in an exclusive audio interview.

He added that when young people who may not have ever been out of their home country before can go to a foreign country and stay with a family, and experience the culture and lifestyle and visit local schools, it is an experience they will never forget.

Before he left, Larry had a special meeting with Cllr Pat O'Reilly, chairman of the Naas Twinning Committee, to see how the twinning initiated between the Irish and Omaha communities can be further progressed.

He was especially interersted in the broad array of local talent from Naas displayed at the concert in Killashee House on Sunday night, and felt there would be no difficulty in finding opportunities for exchange between young musicians and their counterparts in Omaha's thriving arts environment.
