Following the very exciting and successful portrait competition in Naas Town Hall on Culture Night, an exhibition of the portraits will take place at Castletown House from Sunday 11th to Saturday 30th October.

The exhibition is open to the public and admission is free. The event at Culture Night was organised by Sharon Fidgeon, event organiser. Sharon was inspired by the Sky Portrait Artist of the Year 2014 and since then has wanted to recreate something similar in Ireland.

The competition involved 17 artists painting Aine Lawlor, RTE radio and TV broadcaster, and Dick Warner, environmentalist, writer and broadcaster, over a three hour period in front of a live public audience. This was not an easy task for Aine, Dick and the artists but everyone involved made it a huge success. Judith Henigan won the overall competition with her portrait of Dick Warner, winning €1,000 sponsored by Naas Credit Union and Kildare County Council Arts Service.

Judith's Portrait was chosen by a panel of judges, Conor Walton, runner up in the Sky Portrait Artist of the Year, Alison Hurst, well known Local portrait artist and Lucina Russell Arts Officer Kildare.  Claire Malone, Stephen O'Raw and Will Nathans won the sitter’s choice prizes, sponsored by Kildare County Council Arts Service and Barker and Jones. Well done to all four artists.

The exhibition will include the portraits painted by each artist on Culture night along with the portraits they submitted initially to gain entry to the competition.

This exhibition will be a wonderful eclectic mix of portrature art and will be well worth a visit. The exhibition in the Stable Wing at Castletown, will be open daily 10am to 5pm, from the 11th to 30th of October.
