Declan O’Rourke, the man responsible for much loved and future classic songs ‘Galileo’ and ‘Big Bad Beautiful World’, is set to bring his immense talent to Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge on Thursday December 10th.

Declan O’Rourke used to be one of Ireland’s best kept secrets, but rave reviews for his debut album ‘Since Kyabram’, a growing international fanbase and an enviable collection of eminent devotees, including Paul Weller, Snow Patrol and Kate Rusby, are rapidly changing that. Indeed, Paul Weller when asked by Q Magazine which song from the past twenty years he most wishes he’d written, chose O’Rourke’s beautiful ‘Galileo,’

With his debut album, Since Kaybram, Gold, Platinum and then double-Platinum status, Declan O’Rourke’s success has gone from strength to strength and his long-awaited second album, Big, Bad, Beautiful World, has also been critically acclaimed.

The buzz is growing, based on the simplicity of great songs and a unique voice. Declan’s lyrics touch on all aspects of the individual, his songs focus on the centre of everyday emotions and his voice irresistibly draws the listener in. He has an understated charm, a quick-wittedness that make him highly endearing live and equally at home playing to one person as he is to thousands.

Having toured with Paul Weller, The Cardigans, Paulo Nuttini, appeared on the same bills as Planxty and Bob Dylan and with plans for an extensive tour of Australia in Spring 2010 this is a great opportunity to see Declan O’Rourke in the intimate setting of Riverbank Arts Centre .
