Will include this season's Prodrift Ireland finals, as part of the County Kildare circuits' festival of Japanese motorsport and motoring, which will also include the finals of the Mondello Park Time Attack championship.
Having only run sixteen invited drivers at last seasons inaugural Mondello Jap-Fest, this year Prodrift will run a full championship event. Amateur Class, Pro Class Qualifying and the Top 32 Battle will take place on Saturday September 6th, with the all important Top 16 Battle Royale being reserved for Sunday 7th in what will become the most important Prodrift Weekend of 2008.
With this years Prodrift Irl. Series going down to the wire, a capacity Mondello Park audience will be treated to an epic battle between Ireland’s best drifters, all pushing for a strong finish to the 2008 season. Currently James Deane holds a 10 Point advantage over John O’Connell with the chasing pack of 7 drivers covered by just 10 points.
Speaking of the announcement, Mondello Park MD John Morris said, “We are delighted to be able to accommodate a competitive drift element into this years show following the popular demonstration run at last years event. When added to the final round of the Time Attack series and the other exciting plans we have, the event will now feature almost non-stop track action.”
Alongside the Time Attack and Prodrift Finals, Mondello Jap-fest will host the first drag event of the season, the biggest ever gathering of Performance Subaru's, owners club stands, track sessions for clubs and individuals, a 'Tuner' area and a paddock full of Ireland's hottest Japanese cars.
Entries for the show are currently open with Time Attack and Drag Sprint entries available from Mondello Park or through the Mondello Park web site.
