DRUIDS AND ROOTERS TOY RUN 2009
How quickly the year has flown by, and what a bad summer we had, rain, rain, followed by yes, more rain. But here we are again, and its the 5/12/09, and time for another ‘Druids’ and ‘Rooters’ Toy Run. What a surprise to waken, and find a fine day for a change, perfect conditions for the run. We met at Toughers Garage, some had breakfast, and others had a smoke, and a chat, before the off. We headed off for Carlow at 12pm, with ‘Santa’ (alias Bristo) out in front on Pat's trike. As we got near to Carlow, the weather started to change for the worst!. We stopped in Carlow for a break, where we picked up more bikers laded with more donations. From Carlow we headed for Kilkenny, picking up more people along the way. Unfortunately, the nearer we got to Kilkenny the worse the rain was getting, however, through to form, everyone had a purpose and on we continued to St Patrick’s. At St Patrick's everybody was delighted to see us, and a grand total of 207 bikes were counted on arrival. All in for much appreciated soup, and sausage rolls, as Santa distributed his presents. Over 4,200 euro was collected on the day, along with donations of hampers and toys. A big ‘Thank you’ to all who attended, and donated. A special thanks to Bristo for a brilliant job, yet again, as ‘Santa’. We hope that you all got home safely, as the weather really deteriorated in the evening. Hope to see you all again next year.
Thank you again from the ‘Druids’ and ‘Rooters’ and a big thank you on behalf of all the people at St Patrick’s Kilkenny, and The Holy Angels, Carlow.
Ride Safe.
