Volunteer drivers in Athy needed to drive cancer patients to treatments in Dublin hospitals

The Irish Cancer Society's Care to Drive service is looking for volunteer drivers in Athy to bring patients to and from their chemotherapy treatments in all Dublin hospitals. Patients from Kildare attend the following hospitals;

  • The Mater
  • St. James’s Hospital
  • Tallaght Hospital
  • St. Vincent’s Hospital

In 2014, 70 patients from Kildare were transported to and from 761 appointments and the demand is increasing every year.

We are looking for more drivers to facilitate an increase in patient referrals. Drivers are asked to drive only twice a month and are paid all road tolls, offered a contribution towards some lunch and the kilometre distance from their house to the patient’s house, to the hospital and then back again.

To volunteer, please call Gail on 01 2310 566 or email transport@irishcancer.ie
