Incinerator
 |
|
| |
As many of you may be aware there is presently a proposal
to site a waste disposal incinerator in Boycetown, Kilcock. Attached to
the printed edition was detailed information regarding the proposal and
some observations regarding the potential negative impact on our environment.
It is suggested that every household write to the Planning Office of Kildare
County Council giving reasons why you do not want this proposal to be approved.
Detailed information is provided in the attached information to the printed
edition along with a standard letter, which can be copied or used as an
example. If you can return your letter to a committee member before 6th
June, arrangements can be made for a delivery to be made to Kildare Council
offices so you won't have to pay for stampage. |

Levies |
|
| |
So far approximately half of all households have given
their £20 levy to the Committee - in order for us to maintain our
organised efforts on your behalf we really need to have all levies paid
up. If you would like to drop in your levy to a Committee member a receipt
can be provided. A list of all Committee members is provided at the end
of this newsletter. As mentioned previously, a statement of account will
be available for all at out next AGM in March 2000. To give you an example
of where your levy is being spent, we have recently paid our organisation's
insurance premium, allowing us to operate in a secure manner, and organise
events and activities without liability issues. |

ACRA |
|
| |
I can confirm that the Castle Dawson Residents Association
has now become a member of the ACRA (Association of Residents Associations).
This alliance will allow us to benefit from the greater influence of this
national organisation. |

Estate Clean-Up |
|
| |
With the recent release of the next phase of houses and
the opening of the show house we have all seen great activity from builders.
Considerable cleaning up and landscaping has taken place over the last
few days - we would ask that all residents play their part in the upkeep
of the estate and ensure that their property and especially the verges
and path to the front of each house be kept free from rubbish and litter.
If you have concerns with regard to building matters please advise a member
of the Builders Committee (see below) so that the matter can be put forward
to the builders for their attention. Still with "tidiness" the local Community
Council is looking for volunteers to assist with the running of our area's
participation in the Tidy Towns contest, if interested please contact Richard
Farrell (P.R.O. for Community Council) after 6pm on 628 6044. |

Security |
|
| |
With the summer holiday season upon us we have been advised
by the local Gardai to take precautions when leaving property unattended
for a number of days. They suggest that you contact them with times of
departure and return and a contact telephone number so that any unusual
activity can be investigated. There have been a number of security incidents
in recent weeks within the estate so we would ask all residents to be vigilant
and report anything suspicious. |
|
| |
Name Plaque |
|
| |
One of the activities for the Association is to decide
on a name plaque for the front of the estate. There have been a number
of suggestions put forward - at present the favored proposal is for a small
black marble/granite stone to be set into the front wall of the estate
(on the left hand side as you approach/enter from Maynooth direction).
This would have the wording Castle Dawson carved into it and painted in
gold. We are still keen to have further suggestions so contact the Committee
with your suggestions! |
|
| |
Committee Members |
| |
We are keen to have a resident from each road on the Committee
so that representation is spread evenly throughout the estate. Our next
Committee meeting is to take place on the 15 of July at Maryanne's house
- if you are a resident from house number 80 to 104 and would like to become
a committee member please come along. |
