  Santa Is Coming
On the, 12th of December 1999, at the North Kildare Club, which is half way between Kilcock and Maynooth, the Castle Dawson Residents Association Committee has organised for Santa to come. This will allow the kids, to have their own private meeting with Santa, receive a gift, and have a party with the other kids. The main man will be arriving at 3 o'clock and all kids and parents in the estate are invited to attend.
  New arrivals
In addition to Santa, this invitation is extended to residents without any kids to come along and meet the other residents for a chat, and a get to know "you". Obviously the more people we can get to attend the better evening we all can have together. Over the last couple of months there has been quite a few new arrivals into our estate and the committee is hoping that people will make an special effort to attend, after all it is for the residents.
  Kids-Karaoke
There will be face painting, Teletubbies, Kids-Karaoke, Music and a Christmas Party for all the residents. There will be a full bar service available all night, and everything is free of charge. Parents are advised that this is not a baby minding facility so parents must stay with their kids at all times. Food for the kids will be provided, as well as decorating the venue in a true festive style, full of fairy lights, Christmas tree, in fact the whole works!
  Sponsorship
Croftbeam (the builders) and Brady's (the auctioneers), have kindly sponsored this event and the CDRA would like to thank them for their generous contributions and we wish them well for the festive season and the new year.
  Gifts
For those parents who would like their child to receive a gift from Santa then please wrap a gift (max value ú5) and drop it/them into one of the committee members whose details appear later in this newsletter. Or alternatively, give it to one of the committee members who will be calling on the evening of the 8th/9th of December. The present should be clearly labeled with the child's name and the house number and when Santa arrives, he will take the presents from the bag and call each kid up for a special chat, to see what they want for Christmas and to give them the present.
  Digital Picture
Then the Teletubbies will take a picture of Santa and the kid and these pictures will be available on the CDRA's website, which is located at the following web address, a few days later. http://www.kildare.ie/castledawson
  Neighborhood Watch
In conjunction with the Gardai in Maynooth the CDRA is in the process of setting up a Neighborhood watch scheme. Recently the committee went around to all houses with some forms if you have not got one or filled out one then would you please do so immediately, a form can be got from any of the committee members.
  Website Re-launched
The Castle Dawson website has recently gone under some redesign and has some more useful links and information. The 10% discount for Woodie's in Lucan is a favorite. Resident's are encouraged to view the page and send their feedback to the web master. So far the reaction is positive to the web site and was recently acknowledged as the first resident's association in Ireland to have their own web site.
  Online Newsletter
Over the coming weeks this newsletter and subsequent letters will be delivered via email. To avail of this service then you should send an email to castledawson@altavista.net and we will include you on the mailing list. This will allow more efficiency in delivering this newsletter. We will still deliver the paper copy as normal in case someone does not have access to email.
  Community Council
At the most recent Community Council meeting held in Maynooth the issue about the current state of the road outside Castle Dawson with it's lack of footpaths and public lighting was discussed with Councilor John McGinley.. We received a letter, which stated that he had brought the matter to the attention of Kildare County Council and he is expecting work to commence shortly. The CDRA will keep following this issue to ensure something is done, as the current lack of lighting and footpath facilities makes it very dangerous for anyone walking on the Rathcoffey road, especially for children. All the developer's money has been paid for this work and the realignment of the Rathcoffey road so there can be no excuses for any further delays.
  Bond Bridge
Work is due to begin on the construction of the new Bond bridge in spring 2000 and will take 1 year to complete. The old bridge will remain open and in addition a new road, Meadowbrook Link, will connect the Rathcoffey road to the Straffan road.
  Levies
Currently there are about 40% of the residents who have not paid their levy for this year. The year restarts in March and without getting some money together it makes it very difficult for the committee to organise additional trees for the estate and most importantly a contract for getting the grass in the estate cut when the builders do finish up.
  Landscaping and Trees
The addition of trees and some overall landscaping is still being planned and should commence over the next couple of weeks. Parents are requested to inform their kids that these trees and shrubs are for their benefit and should be respected.
  Security
With a lot of people planning on being away for the Christmas and New Year period, residents should, ensure that they leave contact numbers with their neighbors in case a alarms going off and also in case of unwanted visitors. There has been in recent times a number of break ins and attempted break ins so all resident's are asked to be extra vigilant not only over the next couple of weeks but in fact all the time. Anything suspect or unusual should be reported to the Gardai in Maynooth on 01-629 1444.
  Committee Members
We are keen to have a resident from each road on the Committee so that representation is spread evenly throughout the estate. Our next Committee meeting is to take place on the 15 of July at Maryanne's house - if you are a resident from house number 80 to 104 and would like to become a committee member please come along.
