Poetry Corner
“Liffey”

I Dream of my childhood along a river so old Swimming, Laughter with my silent thought.
The sun was hot but the water so cold, such natural ecstasy my Liffey it brought.
I fished on the river for trout and Pike a cherished time soon with a surprise catch, with fish on the river I so much like such god given food you cannot match.

Clear White swans float on a river so free Building their nest on an Island of their own These graceful creatures meant much to me One day soon signets be fully grown a world of mine to a river of peace. Destined to its homeland at the sea its constant hushing tumble never cease A river of destiny forever to be.

What makes my ever lasting river flow A force carrying its way all the time to its destination onward it go In rippling waters so busy but fine. I sit at the riverside without a care Echoing its peaceful tone to my ear Both senses of river and myself to share Constantly calming to get rid of fear.

Kilcullen

Kilcullen has changed a lot since I last visited it as a child. It was a very old town untouched by development this has all changed. There are many new estates which have been built over the last couple of years these include Castle martin that is opposite Tony O’Reillys Caste martin estate Behind this is the expansive Cnoc Na Greine estate where I live, it is broken up into different streets the view is one, I find it very modern and stylish I am a proud member of Kilcullen golf and tennis club, they are great amenities The Credit Union opposite An Tear Mann coffee shop is almost built so if you really want something in Camphill you know where to get your funds. You can get to Dublin in an hour but beware you have to be very patient sometimes as the buses are not always on time.

Dear Member

I hope you are in Good health. The reason I am typing this letter is to ask you to attend Platinum clubhouse on a more regular basis, then you have been . The Clubhouse is funded by the number of members who attend the Clubhouse. Members who are out at work are asked to attend the Clubhouse on the day you are off. Remember only for the clubhouse you would have no work . Within the Clubhouse each week day there are Employment, Standard and House meetings, where vital issues are discussed regarding the running of the Clubhouse Your voice is needed at these meetings. I hope you will take the above issues to heart and make an extra effort to attend the Clubhouse on a more regular basis. Remember membership of the Clubhouse for life and with that membership comes certain obligations to the Clubhouse community.

Staff and Members

Sport

Firstly I would like to say, to me sport should be about entertainment, giving people passing through the turnstiles something that will lighten their load from the pressures of modern day life. The game between Offaly and Kildare in Newbridge on Saturday afternoon certainly had that and more, already post mortems, autopsy's etc are taking place throughout the county in pubs, clubs and betting shops and so forth. Everyone has their own opinion here’s mine. Before discussing the match in Newbridge on Saturday last, I would like to write about the history of Kildare football from about the time I started watching them which is something about the early eighties from what I can remember was that more often than not Kildare made first round exits from the Leister Championships year after year. It didn’t matter who they played, Wicklow, Wexford, Laois, half fit Dublin teams all recorded victories over the Lilywhites. The situation was very bleak indeed and was getting worse with every passing year. Something had to be done and quickly. At that time a group of wealthy and influential people in Kildare including a chap named Osbourne and Gus somebody or other decided to take action and form what was to be known as Kildare Supporters Club.. Huge amounts of cash and they went about looking for the best in the business, someone with pedigree both as a player and a manager to entice him to Kildare. Enter Mick O Dwyer . O Dwyer had won All Ireland medal As a player and managed the greatest football team of all time in the seventies and early eighties.
