| | On March 5th, 2020 we celebrated World Book Day with a host of enjoyable
activities for all our budding readers. Pupils had the option of dressing up as
their favourite book character on the day. Literacy-based art competitions were
held in which some children designed book covers or book-marks. Pupils from the
senior classes read a selection of poetry for the whole school. The poems were broadcast over the school intercom to be enjoyed by all
classes.
The Book Fair was also held in the school during that week. There was an
amazing selection of books for all ages supplied by the Scholastic Book Company.
A group of parents were very busy managing the sales and supplies every morning
and afternoon. It was a wonderful initiative to promote the love of reading
among all our pupils. In addition, all the children received a book token to get a free book or a discount
off a book at the fair. Mrs. Bastick, who co-ordinated the event, was thrilled
with the level of interest that was generated to encourage reading and the love
of books. Our school benefits from a substantial share of the profits which
allows us to restock the School Library.
