The tarmac road gives way to easy grass track taking you to the Grattan Aqueduct, which as the plaque records was built under the supervision of Richard Evans, engineer, in 1790. The path resumes a tarmac surface again in the run-up to Vicarstown, a picturesque canal side village that is a welcome visual relief after the unvaryingly plain appearance of the landscape over the previous 11kms. The village also has an attractively presented pub waiting to slake the thirst of hot and bothered walkers. 45 GPS 53.1400 -7.0638 GPS 53.1400 -7.0864 THE BARROW LINE
