THE INSPECTOR-GENERAL, R.I.C., AND THE MOTOR COURSE
On Wednesday the Inspector-General, R.I.C., passed through
Athy on a motor car on a tour of inspection of the Gordon-Bennett
course. He was accompanied by Mr. Crane, County Inspector
R.I.C. On Thursday he passed through with the County Inspector of the Queen’s
Co.

THE MOTOR RACE.
KILDARE ALONE TO BE PATRONISED?
A conference was held in Kildare on Wednesday between County
Inspector Crane, Col. Chamberlain, Major-General de C. Morton, and Mr.
Robertson, of the Board of Trade, for the purpose of devising precautions
to ensure the public safety on the occasion of the Motor Race. As a
result of their deliberations, it is stated they recommend that, in
the interests of the public generally, the competing motor cars be accommodated
in the town of Kildare the night before the race. If this be correct,
the Race will be of very little benefit to Naas.
CARS WILL STOP AT NAAS
Mr. J. L. Carew, M.P., was informed on Thursday, by Mr. Roger Wallace,
President of the Automobile Club of Great Britain that the
competing cars would be weighed at Naas before and after the race (as
described on page 6). It is hardly likely, therefore, that the recommendation
referred to above (if made?) will be accepted.
