THE GORDON-BENNETT CUP RACE
Mr. Glover, County Surveyor, stated that in a conversation he had with some members of the Automobile Club he was authorised to state that in addition to an extra quarter’s pay which the Club proposes to allow each contractor over which the course lay, they also intended to award a prize of £5 5s to the contractor whose road will be found in the best condition. Apart from these considerations Mr. Glover appealed to the contractors to use every effort to have the roads as near perfection as possible.
The Chairman reminded those present that on the day of the race, the roads throughout the course will be the property of the Automobile Club, and under no conditions will any class of traffic be permitted.
The usual payments having been passed and works falling out of contract ordered to be re-contracted for. The meeting adjourned to Saturday, the 25th inst.
