Ernest Shackleton
Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton was born on 15 February 1874. He was an Explorer and is chiefly remembered for his Antarctic expedition of 1914-1916 in the ship Endurance. He was a famous and key figure in the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration.
He was born in Ballitore, County Kildare, Ireland.

History and Life of Saint Brigid
Saint Brigid  of  Ireland  was a founding patron of the Christian church in  Ireland. She was one of the first Irish Saints. Legend has it that she wove her first cross from rushes that covered the floor of her home. The rush cross has been the symbol of  Saint Brigid  ever since.

Saint Brigid of Kildare
St Brigid is second only to St Patrick in the esteem of the Irish people. She is especially associated with County Kildare and the whole area of The Liffey Plain.
