Mondello.TV to broadcast 'Mondello 45' event

mondello.tv Preparations for Mondello Park's 45th birthday celebration event are gathering pace with the announcement that the June 9th celebration will be televised by mondello.tv.

Following on from the inaugural web TV broadcast of Mondello's first car race event of the season, the 'Mondello 45' event will once again be streamed live on the internet. Viewers will be able to tune in on www.mondello.tv, for a full days racing, complete with driver interviews and live circuit commentary. Speaking about the decision to Live Stream the event, Mondello Park’s Managing Director John Morris said: “The reaction to the Live Streaming of the April event massively exceeded our expectations and consequently we were keen to try and add 'Mondello 45', to the three other events scheduled for Live Streaming in 2013. At present, five classes are confirmed and we’re hopeful of bringing the remaining two on-board as well”

The June 9th race meeting will include the first race for the newly revived Irish GT series, which has been taken under the wing of the Mondello Park Sports Club for 2013. Revised regulations, featuring four classes, along with some interesting race formats, have injected new life into the Irish GT racing scene and a number of drivers have already signed up. Mondello is hoping the GT class will follow in the footsteps of the Patch Fiesta Championship, which has already set records for a new class in its first season.

The Mondello 45 programme will also feature Formula Sheane, Formula Vee, ITCC, Strykers and the other new class this year; Future Classics. The exact event timetable will be revealed closer to the date, but some of the additional attractions are already in place. Having won the first ever Mondello Park car race, the Mini will play a large part in the event. Inaugural race winner John Keaney will be on hand to lead a Mini parade while all spectators who arrive in a Mini will be admitted free of charge. In addition, a new award, named after circuit owner Martin Birrane will be presented to mark the 45th anniversary and the 'Birrane Cup' will go to the winner of the class with the biggest grid of the day.

'Mondello 45' will be one of the highlights of the Car race season and should be an excellent days racing as well as trip down memory lane. Admission will be reduced to just €4.50 for adults with under sixteen’s admitted free of charge and all spectators will receive a complimentary souvenir programme.
