8 runners to line up in Etihad Airways Irish 1000 Guineas

Irish Guineas-Festival English 1000 Guineas winner Homecoming Queen will face seven rivals in the Etihad Airways Irish 1000 Guineas taking place at the Curragh this Sunday. The Aidan O’Brien trained filly will face stiff opposition from the Kevin Prendergast trained La Collina, Yellow Rosebud trained by Dermot Weld and the sole British trained challenger Samitar.
 
11 colts go to post in the Abu Dhabi Irish 2000 Guineas on Saturday. Aidan O’Brien’s four runners are lead by Power and Daddylonglegs, while the Jim Bolger trained Parish Hall, currently the 7/2 favourite and the John Oxx trained pair of Takar and Born to Sea are other notable contenders who will attempt to keep the first Irish Classic race of the year at home. A strong overseas trained challenge includes Hermival from France who finished 3rd in the English 2000 Guineas, the Richard Hannon trained Trumpet Major and Foxtrot Romeo trained by Brian Smart
 
12 sprinters will line up in the Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes also on Saturday, including  Nephrite, Fire Lily and the British trained Tiddliwicks, Hitchens and Jimmy Styles, while Liberating, Infanta Blanca, Katchy Lady and Verbal Honestly are among the 8 runners in the Emirates Equestrian Federation Marble Hill Stakes, together with the British trained Cay Verde a recent winner at Ascot trained by Mick Channon
 
Emulous and Alanza are among seven Irish trained fillies to face the strong British trained pair of Law of the Range and Winter’s Night in the TRI Equestrian Stakes.
 
On Sunday multiple Group 1 winner So You Think is one of 5 runners in the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup where Famous Name and Bible Belt are other notable entries, while the David Wachman trained Tannery will attempt to land this third race of the season in the Airlie Stud Gallinule Stakes with Speaking of Which, Crius and Frontier among the other notable runners in the Group 3 contest.

Admission €20, Under 25s and Seniors €10 Under 16s Free.   Sunday is also Etihad Airways Ladies Day in association with Irish Tatler.
