Kildare Marks St. Brigid's Day

February 1st is St. Brigid's Annual Feast Day and the people of Kildare have found many interesting and fun ways to mark this day. Féile Bríde - Brigid's Festival is a week long series of events running up to Brigid's Day. On St. Brigid's Day visitors to Kildare town will have the opportunity to learn the craft of weaving Brigid crosses at Aras Bhride and Kildare Heritage Centre. Also on the day, visitors can join a walk around the ancient monastic city of Kildare with Mario Corrigan. Those interested should assemble in the Market Square, at St. Brigid's Flame at 1.30 p.m. On the same day, Leixlip Library will host a Workshop on how to make a St Brigid's Cross.

For anyone interested in the story of St. Brigid's cloak, there is a wonderful version of the story  on the Grey Abbey website at
