Free Biodiversity Workshops at Bog of Allen Nature Centre

Marsh fritillaryThe Irish Peatland Conservation Council are hosting two free biodiversity workshops at the Bog of Allen Nature Centre, Lullymore, Rathangan, Co. Kildare during Biodiversity Week 2011. 

The first workshop will be held on 24th May from 9.30am-1pm and is ‘An Introduction to the Butterflies of Ireland’.  This workshop will explore the variety of butterflies we have in Ireland and includes a guided walk to Lullymore West Bog in Co. Kildare where participants will take part in IPCC’s National Biodiveristy Data Centre butterfly transect. 

 The second workshop is entitled the ‘Marsh Fritillary Butterfly’  This workshop will be held on Thursday the 26th May from 9.30am-1pm at the Bog of Allen Nature Centre.  The Marsh Fritillary is an endangered butterfly in Europe and this workshop aims to introduce the lifecycle and habitats requirements of the butterfly to participants and includes a walk to a local nature reserve where it is hoped participants will see the butterfly.
