Sensational Kids Launch Sensational Parents Course

Help With Parenting Your Child With Special Needs

Sensational Kids, a charity that provides occupational therapy services for children with special needs, is running a six week parenting skills course. By taking part in the course, participants will learn parenting skills, that will enhance their relationship with their child, reduce their stress levels and help them feel happy and confident about their parenting. They will also learn tools and techniques that will help to sustain themselves over the years of high demands on their parenting.

This course is based on facilitating parents in a supportive environment to find the best way for them to parent their special child and will be facilities by Jennifer Little who is herself a Parent of a child with special needs, a Teacher & a Life Coach. According to Jennifer "Parenting a child with special needs is rewarding but it’s also exhausting and demoralising at times. Your child needs you so much but there is a limit to your energy, resources and patience.Where do you find the inspiration and the support to keep going?" Jennifer explains how her parenting course can help: “Parents of children with special needs do their very best but still have a feeling that they are not doing enough! Given time and opportunity on the course, parents are able to look at their own situation and see what’s working and what isn’t.This makes it easier to see what they need to do next and what makes sense in their situation.”

The course will be run at the Sensational Kids Centre in Kildare town and will commence on Wednesday 22nd April and run for six weeks until Wednesday 27th May. There are both morning & evening sessions available - the morning option runs from 10am until 12 noon and the evening option is from 7.30pm until 9.30pm.

"We are really looking forward to the Sensational Parents course," said Karen Leigh from Sensational Kids, who founded the charity along with other parents who have children with special needs. "It will provide parents who have children with special needs with an opportunity to meet other parents who are in a similar situation."

A brochure for this course, and all the other Sensational Kids workshops, can be downloaded  from the Sensational Kids website www.sensationalkids.ie under the Workshops category. Phone Sensational Kids on 045 520900 / 045 521160 for more details or to book.
