Research Residency Vacancy at Kildare County Council Library & Arts Service

Kildare Library & Arts Services (KLAS) is seeking to engage a researcher to undertake qualitative research with all relevant stakeholders to inform its space and provision, for children and young people throughout the Library and Arts Services in County Kildare. Research will be guided by existing national and local policies and by the expressed needs of stakeholders. The completed research document will inform Kildare County Council Policy.

 The fieldwork aspect will involve:

Conducting semi-structured interviews with young people and youth groups, Library & Arts Youth Facilitators and Staff and all other relevant stakeholders throughout the County of Kildare.

The Data management aspect will involve:

Desk research, data analysis and production of a Research Report.
The researcher will be expected, as an integral part of the contract, to conduct interviews, transcriptions and desk research together with associated data entry and processing. The contract sum includes an allocation to cover travel costs and will require a degree of late evening and Saturday availability in order to facilitate community-based interviews.

Skills and Competencies required.

Those interested in making proposals should have a third level qualification in the broader social sciences area and proven experience in qualitative research methodologies.  Experience of working in the area of youth education, or youth arts and culture or leisure will be an advantage as will as an understanding of the broad policy area.

Budget: €26,000
