NUI Maynooth to Benefit from Government Funding

NUI Maynooth is to benefit from funding of €320,000 under the Department of Education’s Strategic Innovation Fund according to local Fianna Fail T.D. Áine Brady.

“This funding will go towards supporting internal change in the Institute, improving teaching and learning and promotion of access and lifelong learning and supporting the development of fourth level education.”

“One of the projects that will benefit from this funding is a joint project involving eight third level institutions in Dublin to exploit their geographic closeness bringing together disciplines and staff in order to enhance opportunities for students.”

“A strong local university will provide a readily available high skilled local workforce that will in turn encourage investment in Kildare.”

“NUI Maynooth will also be participating in the Creating the Entrepreneurial Graduate Proposal. As part of this plan NUI Maynooth will work in partnership with UCD, Dundalk IT, Trinity College Dublin, DCU, IT Tallaght and the Dublin Institute of Technology and aim to link entrepreneurship education into existing technology programmes and promote organisational change within and between the institutions.”

“NUI Maynooth will also share in the €5.5million that has been allocated to promote partnerships between Universities around the country.”

“This fund will fulfil a commitment to mainstreaming supported flexible learning within and between the Universities in order to increase the numbers of people in the workforce engaged in education and development.”

“The continued investment in NUI Maynooth is vital, as it plays a vital role education and economy of the region,” concluded Deputy Brady.
