Major new school building projects for Kildare

 

Aine Brady, T.D. and Minister for Education and Science Batt O'Keeffe T.D Local Fianna Fail T.D. Áine Brady has welcomed the news that north Kildare is to benefit from a series of major school building projects all of which will proceed to tender with a view to going on site in the first half of 2009.

“In Kill, Scoil Bhride will get a new 32 classroom school and accommodation and site works.”

“In Naas, Caragh National School will get a 15-classroom extension, a general purpose hall and other accommodation.”

“Meánscoil Iognaid Rís will get a extension of 3105m squared and works for a school for 1,000 students.”

“These new works are vital for the growing population of north Kildare.”

“Kildare has a population of young families and it is essential that there are not only enough school places for children, but also that those school places are high quality and standard.”

“Good quality school buildings help to enhance the learning environment for pupils and teachers alike.”

“I have lobbied the Minister for Education, Batt O’Keeffe and his predecessor Mary Hanafin for more school places and improved facilities for north Kildare.”

“Minister O’Keeffe has informed me the schools will be contacted regarding the next steps that will need to be taken for these building projects.”

“I will be in continuing touch with Minister O’Keeffe to ensure that these projects proceed without delay,” concluded Deputy Brady.
