Kildare Volunteer Centre are running a Volunteer Management Training Course for organisations employing people on a volunteer basis.
Volunteer Management Training :
Dates: Tuesdays, Sept. 21st, 28th, Oct 5th and 12th.
Time: 9.15 a.m. – 1.00 p.m.
Venue: Kildare Volunteer Centre, Newbridge
Course details:
Module 1.
Aim: To plan for volunteer involvement and design volunteer roles
Objectives:
- Reflect on how volunteers benefit your organisation
- To understand the expectations of the volunteers and of the organisations
- Examine potential costs of involving volunteers
- To understand and write a role description and person specification
- To understand an exit interview and its importance
Module 2.
Aim: To explore best practice for recruitment, selection and induction of volunteers for your organisation
Objectives:
- To understand effective recruitment and selection methods
- To design a recruitment campaign for your organisation
- To analyse application approaches
- To design suitable interview questions
- To draft an induction plan
- To examine volunteer agreements
Module 3.
Aim: To provide participants with an understanding of the role and importance of support and supervision when managing volunteers.
Objectives:
- Define supervision and its purpose
- Identify positive support and supervision skills and techniques
- Identify ways to motivate and recognise volunteers
- Explore ways of dealing with difficult situations
Module 4.
Aim: To give participants the knowledge and tools to design and implement a volunteer policy.
Objectives:
- Define what a policy is
- Identify key elements of a volunteer policy
- Consider those who need to be consulted when drafting the policy
- Draft a volunteer policy
- Plan for implementation of the policy
