Submissions Sought on Bus Transport and Congestion

Aine Brady TDDeputy Aine Brady, Convenor of the Oireachtas Committee on Transport, has urged North Kildare Commuters to make submissions on the development of a reliable Bus Transport Network and measures on how to solve the traffic congestion problems to the Oireachtas Committee.

'The Committee is anxious to consult with all the stakeholders, including the Commuters of Kildare, on how best we can provide a reliable and efficient Bus Transport Network. While we have made significant progress on the improvements to our rail service, we have not made enough improvements for our Bus Commuters.' stated Deputy Brady.

'The Transport Committee is anxious to come up with proposals to improve the Bus Service. This request for submissions is an ideal opportunity for the commuter or other interested parties to come up with proposals to ensure that we improve our Bus Service and help solve our traffic congestion problem in Dublin.'

'Last year, I met with the Quality Bus Network Office and they have assured me that Maynooth, Celbridge and Naas will be included in their programme to roll out adequate Bus Corridors and assist with the provision of an infrastructure for Buses. For an efficient Bus service to operate, we must reduce the travel time for them.'

'Submissions should be made to the Clerk to Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Leinster House, Kildare St, Dublin 2 or e-mail to submissions.transport@oireachtas.ie . The closing date is 3rd of March next.'
