Naas pool opened by Minister for Arts, Sports and Tourism

The new swimming pool in Naas has been officially opened by the Minister for Arts, Sports and Tourism, Martin Cullen TD.

Welcoming the official opening of the pool local Fianna Fail TD Michael Fitzpatrick said,

“I am delighted that the Naas pool has been opened officially by the Minister as it was only made possible with grants under the Local Authority Swimming Pool Programme.”

“The pool got a grant of €3.8 million of a grant from the Department of Arts, Sports and Tourism, which was the maximum amount possible.”

“The pool, which will be run by Kildare County Council is a great resource for the area.”

“The K-Leisure Naas facility includes a 25-metre, 6-lane swimming pool, learner pool, family changing area, spectator area, sauna and steam rooms, aerobics studio, gym and coffee dock.”

“I am delighted to hear that the pool has proved to be very popular since it first opened a few months ago and I am confident that it will continue to be so,” concluded Deputy Fitzpatrick.

The Minister of State at the Department of Health, with special responsibility for Older People and Health Promotion, Áine Brady TD, has also welcomed the official opening of the Naas swimming pool.

“In my role as Minister of State for Health Promotion I am keenly aware of the importance of healthy lifestyles and the role of exercise in maintaining good health.”

“Swimming is a great form of exercise for people of all ages and it is really important that young children gain confidence in the water and learn all about water safety.”

“The Naas pool has proved to be very popular since it opened a few months ago and I am confident that the numbers using the pool will continue to grow.”

“I was delighted to welcome my colleague Martin Cullen TD to officially open the pool. I know that he was keen to see the facilities."
