Funding For Naas Carers Association

Deputy Michael Fitzpatrick has been informed by John Curran T.D., Minister of State (with special responsibility for Community Affairs and the National Drugs Strategy) at the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, that The Carers Association Naas has been approved for funding of €3,556.80 under the Scheme of Community Support for Older People being announced today.

The Scheme is administered and funded by the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs with the services delivered by local community and voluntary groups.

This Scheme assists qualifying older people, aged 65 years and over, by means of community based grants. Funding is provided towards the once-off cost of installing monitored alarm systems, door and window locks, door chains, security lighting, smoke alarms.

Deputy Fitzpatrick remarked “The work of the Carers Association is vital and valued and I would like to express my grateful thanks to them and to the many other volunteers who give so generously of their time to ensure the success of this scheme, the benefits of which are immense to the older members of the community.

He further added; "this scheme further demonstrates this Government’s on-going commitment to the targeting of resources to areas of greatest need.

Applications can be made by voluntary organisations throughout the year, thus allowing applications to be made as needs arise."
