Funding Boost for Kildare Rural Water Supplies

Kildare is to get a funding boost of  €1,886,500 to upgrade rural water supplies according to local Fianna Fail T.D. Sean Ó Fearghail

“The funding will be awarded by the Department of the Environment and help to implement the Rural Water Programme and will be focussed towards privately sourced group water schemes that need to be upgraded to bring them into line with the Drinking Water Regulations.”

“Improving the rural water scheme plays a vital role in improving the standard of living for those living in rural areas.”

“Access to high quality and reliable water service is a basic need and this funding should help to ensure that the necessary work can be completed by the end of this year.”

“An additional funding of €10million is being made available for certain public water supplies with potential quality issues around the country.”

“Special funding of €9million is also being allocated for new group water schemes to cater for growing rural communities and €23.2million for local authorities to extend and improve small public water and sewerage schemes.”

“The work and commitment of activities and volunteers who manage local water schemes is commendable. Their dedication has gone a long way to ensure a better water supply for their communities.”

“This funding will consolidate their work and improve rural water supplies even further,” concluded Deputy Ó Feargháil.
