Over €350 thousand for Kildare horticulture growers

Kildare horticulture growers are to benefit from over €350 thousand in grant aid from the Department of Agriculture under the Grant Scheme for the Development of the Horticulture Sector, according to local Fianna Fail T.D. Áine Brady.

“The grants will assist Kildare horticulture growers with capital investments in new facilities.”

“The grants will cover all areas of the horticulture sector including mushrooms, protected crops, nursery crops, field vegetables, soft fruits and apples and bee-keeping and other.”

“The Kildare growers that will benefit include; Carragh Nursery's Ltd will receive €12,341 for nursery crops, Woodstock Trees and Shrubs who will get €22,940 for nursery crops and Dorans Nursery who will get €32,400 for nursery crops also.”

“The horticulture aid scheme began in 2000 and is now at its highest up-take. As consumers realise the importance of increasing the amount of fruit and vegetable in their diet and of buying local produce, there has been a growth in the business.”

“I would urge local people in Kildare to support these local growers and their produce,” concluded Deputy Brady.
