Launch of Taste Kildare

Taste Kildare The launch of Taste Kildare was held at The K Club in Straffan, Co. Kildare on the 28th of July. Several food and crafts people exhibited their produce in order to offer the attending media and special guests just a taste of what is to come over the festival which will be held next month.

Now in its third year, Taste Kildare celebrates the very best of local food and crafts. This year, the festival has been extended and will now include a weeklong celebration of local flavours, county wide tastings and free demonstrations, starting from Monday, 16th of August.  Participating restaurants will offer a week long special Taste Kildare themed menu, called ‘Dine for €35’. The Taste Week will then culminate in Taste Kildare, a day of fabulous food, craft and family fun taking place from 12- 5pm in the Victorian walled garden of The K Club on Sunday 22nd of August.  The festival celebrates the very best of local artisan food producers, restaurants and great arts and crafts. Indeed, everyone from the Butcher, The Baker to The Candlestick Maker!

Cookery demonstrations will take place at the Miele kitchen throughout the day and just some of the chefs who will be on hand to offer their culinary wisdom include, celebrity TV chef, Clodagh McKenna, K Club Executive Chef, Finbar Higgins and many more!!

There will also be lots of family fun activities such as a duck race, soft play children’s area, mini golf, fly fishing demonstrations, live music, cookery demonstrations, wine cellar and art tours and more.

The cost of entry is just €10 per car and all proceeds raised for the event will go to Enable Ireland, a national organisation providing services to 126 children with disabilities in Co. Kildare.

Speaking at the launch of Taste Kildare, K Club Executive Chef and one of the founders of Taste Kildare said, “I cannot underestimate the importance of sourcing and using locally produced food. Not only does it help support the local economy, but is reflected in the great taste and quality of final dishes. Taste Kildare really celebrates our local producers and the great work they do, these are the true food heroes and should be supported in their endeavours. ”

Everybody is invited to celebrate local food and craft, chat with the producers and meet the county’s top chefs at Taste Kildare.

K Club Resort General Manager CEO, Michael Davern said, “The K Club is proud to host Taste Kildare for the third year, last year we had huge numbers through our gates and look forward to welcoming even more people to this years Taste Kildare. It is also very appropriate that all proceeds will go to supporting a charity locally. We are really looking forward to this years event.”

The Walled Victorian Garden is located in the grounds of the internationally acclaimed K Club Estate in Straffan. Car parking is available for guests at the Smurfit Clubhouse Car Park.  Guests will be escorted from the car park through beautifully landscaped woodland to the Walled Victorian Garden.
