Kildare Youth Theatre Workshops 2007-2008

2007 – 2008 Workshop Programme

Every Monday 7.00pm – 9.00pm | Riverbank
Two classes: 14 to 17 year olds | 18 to 26 year olds
Fee for the year is €100 (Or work experience in lieu of fees)

WEEKLY IMPROVISATION WORKSHOP FOR 14 TO 17 YEAR OLDS


KYT Workshops Kildare Youth Theatre’s weekly improvisation sessions (for 14 to 17 year olds) runs every Monday night from the beginning of September to the end of July. This weekly session is based on both movement and verbal improvisation and is ideal for developing performance skills, confidence, social skills, and a range of skills associated with human development. Beginners can join at any time of the year.


The fee for the year is €100, payable in the first term. YOU MUST BE 14 YEARS OLD TO JOIN KYT. Although this programme is primarily for those aged under 18 you may take part if you are over that age.


SKILLS DEVELOPMENT TRAINING FOR THOSE AGED 18 UPWARDS.


This session will be every Monday night from 7pm to 9pm beginning 10th September in Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge.


It will focus on 4-week and 3-week modules of skills development. The modules are an introduction to the skills taught by professionals from the Irish theatre industry.


MODULES AND DATES



  • Physical Comedy September 10th, 17th, 24th and 1st October

  • Directing Skills October: 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th

  • Synchronised Movement November 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th

  • Audition Preparation December 3rd, 10th, and 17th

  • Stage Combat January 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th

  • Physical Actions (Biomechanics and work inspired by Grotowski) February 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th

  • Cappoeira March 3rd, 10th and 24th

  • Dance April 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th

  • Theatre of the Oppressed May 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th


This programme is designed especially to suit those in third level, Leaving Cert or part-time work who have limited time available to them.


These sessions are open to members of the public, and particularly to members of other Kildare youth theatres and drama groups.



  • Participants must be 18 to register.

  • You register separately for each module, doing those you are interested in and not the others.

  • Each module costs €20 (for 4-week modules) and €15 (for 3-week modules) - payable in advance.

  • Maximum of 15 participants per module.

  • Register for each module a month in advance. If not enough participants register the module will be cancelled and your fee returned.

  • If you register and are not able to turn up your fee will not be returned unless you inform us a week in advance of the module start date. Likewise, if you miss any dates in the module your fee cannot be reimbursed.
