In developing its new Library Headquaters and Arts Centre, Kildare County Council, has married the traditional qualities of the library service with the much wider role it plays in today's society. This very much reflects the vision set out in Branching Out a service which meets the educational, recreational, information and wider community needs of the people it serves. I congradulate all involved in the project, and I wish the people of Newbridge, and indeed County Kildare, long hours of enjoyment within this wonderful building.

I am delighted to see the opening of this new Library Headquaters and Arts Centre. This centre ia a model institution for the 21st Century. It will bring our cultural heritage and contemporary talent to the forefront, and allow people from all over the County to enjoy this culture in its many forms, wheather it be trying their hand at a new art form, viewing exhibitions of Kildare artists, or attending plays and shows.
Coupled with the enhanced Library Service, literature and culture have never been better served in this County.
