Kieran GossRiverbank Arts Centre
- Saturday 1st November 2002 Kieran Goss was born and raised in Newry, Co Down, Northern Ireland, one of a family of fifteen, he studied Law at Queens University Belfast, but after qualifying as a lawyer in 1985, he turned his back on a legal career to concentrate on songwriting. He is now one of Ireland's top singer/songwriters; he is also one of the biggest selling recording artists in the country. Kieran has released five albums to date; four solo albums and one duo album with Frances Black (Due out shortly). The single "Out of my head" brought Kieran back into the public eye after a break of two years dedicated to writing and recording. For several consecutive weeks it was the second most played song on Irish radio. His album "Worse Than Pride" sold 30,000 units in nine months (double platinum status) going straight to number seven in the charts in the first week of its release. The album yielded two Top 20 singles and was still in the Irish top 50 nine months after release. No mean achievement, considering it was Kieran's first release on his own label, Cog Communications. Supported by national TV and Radio advertising, and two sell-out tours he was voted " The Best Contemporary Artist of 1998" by Irish Music Magazine.
