Diversity - Group Exhibition by the Abbey Art Group

Reflecting its title, Diversity is an exhibition of paintings by 38 different artists from Celbridge, Co Kildare who make up the Abbey Art Group. The exhibition will be formally opened by Lucina Russell, Kildare County Arts Officer on Thursday 7th of June at 8.00pm.

The Abbey art Group was established in 1982 by a number of women living in the Casletown Estate in Celbridge who had an interest in art. From humble beginnings, the group has grown and developed, and now has an active membership of 40. Members meet regularly for workshops and demonstrations and wish to acknowledge their gratitude to Kildare County Council and Arts services for their help. In addition, the group exhibit annually in Celbridge Library 'Diversity' is their first major exhibition outside Celbridge. Amongst the artists included in the exhibition are; Eamonn Burke, Emma Boyce, Martin Campion, Susan Durack, Audrey Nash, Nina Patterson, Don Reynolds, Micheal Molloy and Ann McStavick.

As part of their exhibition, Riverbank Arts Centre is hosting a workshop by David O'Donoghue (Art Consultant) entitled ' Why does Red always sell? - The Presentation and Promotion of Artworks'. This workshop will provide invaluable information for artists who want to better understand the link between the creative side of producing an artwork and commercial side of selling it. The workshop aims to answer such questions as, how to make contact with commercial galleries, how your work should be presented and framed and how to price your artworks. Artists are invited to bring along portfolios (with no more than six artworks) to the Riverbank as part of the workshop. Suitable for amateur and professional artists.

Fee: €5.00

The Exhibition continues in both galleries at Riverbank until Saturday 22nd of June.
