The Kildare Community Network

An Archive Page StampThe Kildare Community Network recently re-launched the www.kildare.ie website, which is the most comprehensive on-line information resource in the county. The site is a community-based portal, bringing Naas Library together community, local government and business information and services. The new look and feel for the site includes six subportals: Arts, Business, Community, Education, Heritage and Tourism. The current Artyfacts newsletter and other arts events are available on the website.

Riverbank Arts Centre

 

Highlights of the summer programme at Riverbank are Beezneez production of Cash and Delivery, a Taiko Drumming performance by Mugeyenko and an exhibition of paintings by Tony O’Malley from the George Mc Clelland collection.

Arts Council Plan 2002 - 2006

Síle de Valera TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands recently launched the publication of the Arts Plan 2002-2006, and announced that on her recommendation it had been endorsed by Government.

The third Arts Plan contains six overall objectives aimed at promoting the sustainability of the arts in Ireland. They are:

Make an arts career a realistic ambition for excellent and innovative artists
Broaden and enrich participation in the arts
Raise standards in arts leadership and management
Broaden and enhance audiences for the arts
Extend the international impact and success of Irish arts and artists
Work with others to help bring the arts closer to local communities
