Exhibitions

 

Warmth and Welcome Banners: Specially commissioned by Bealtaine with the theme of Warmth and Welcome, these banners were produced by children in Newbridge schools and will be on display on Newbridge Main Street

Preacher in Stone: Riverbank Arts Centre.
A major exhibition of the work of Fr. Henry Flanagan illustrating his particular talent for carving in both stone and wood.

Collaborative Visual Arts Exhibition: Newbridge Library. An alternative visual arts exhibition of young artists displaying Celtic design, abstract styles and sculptures.

21st century Celt: Yap Food Company, Moorefield. Solo exhibition of paintings by local artist Leona Ni Oireachtaigh. A fusion of the old with the new - Leona's paintings depict traditional Celtic art images in a modern way through the use of abstraction and vibrant colours.

Bealtaine Café Exhibitions: Newbridge and its surrounding areas have a wealth of artists. We are delighted that many of them are exhibiting in our local restaurants and coffee shops. See local papers for more specific details.

Gerard Manley Hopkins Summer School

The international summer school celebrates the poet and his interests. This year, the 15th summer school represents writers from thirty countries from Afghanistan to Iceland and from Korea to the Congo. According to Robert Welch Robert Welch Editor of the Oxford Companion to Irish Literature, it is the best literary festival in Ireland.

Exhibitions include Rossano Maniscalchi; Alice Hanratty; Mary Dorcey Wanless and Wilhelm Fockersperger. The festival also features films by Bob Quinn (Ireland) and Thomas Tidholm (Sweden). Lectures, international poetry readings and workshops will take place each day for the duration of the festival.
