Fluxdance
Kildare based dance company Fluxusdance and Michael Foley Dance, New York will continue their long-term collaboration during a residency in June and July at the University of Washington, in Seattle. Both companies will present works created separately and together including Giselle: the presence of the past, commissioned by Riverbank, September 2001.The performances will take place at the Velocity Space in Seattle.
The Magic of the Dance
The Magic of Dance is a dance making workshop and performance for children. The magic is inspired by the imagination of the children and in the process of unlocking imagination through the body. Through movement invention, The Magic of Dance conjures up a creative mix of dances and storytelling, explores the origins of dance and uses music, props and magical textures to create a dance experience unique to each group of participants. Teaching artists for the Magic of Dance are Lucy Dundon, Jennifer Fleenor and Cathy O’Kennedy. It was devised, choreographed and directed by Cathy O’Kennedy in her capacity as Dance Artist in Residence for Kildare County Council. Children are invited to share in the magic as part of the children’s summer festival in libraries.
