Glimpse / Spleachádh is a series of 32 fifty-second films by Fínis Productions on current Irish artists. The series will feature a diverse group of artists, who work across the artforms, representing each county in Ireland. The Arts Office, Kildare County Council, supported the filming of Kildare artist Eoin O’Toole, which took place in the inspiring surroundings of his home, The Liffey Arts Research Centre at Victoria Mill, Naas. Spleachádh describe Eoin as a ‘creator of a space in which things happen’. ‘I work with the elements, I love connecting with hidden depth and beauty, I wish my work to function socially, to stimulate wonder and enchantment, my inspiration comes from studies of Celtic mythology’. The film will be aired on TG4 on X January at xxxxx times and will also be posted on xxxx website.

Lexington Sister Commission
In 1984 Lexington, Kentucky in USA invited County Kildare to enter into a twinning arrangement so as to participate in a sister city programme for the establishment of greater friendship and understanding between people of the United States and Kildare. Kildare County Council set up a county twinning committee to promote cultural, educational, social, economic and professional links in co-operation with other people in Lexington. The Arts Office of Kildare County Council, in association with the County Development Board invites entries to the 2002 Sister Cities International Young Artist competition. The purpose of the competition is to encourage youth from all parts of the world to express, through original artwork, their concept of the sister cities mission through the competitions yearly theme. The theme for the competition is – ‘No Borders, No Fences …Just Friends’. The winner will be presented with an art pack worth £250 at an award ceremony in Riverbank in February. The winning entry will then be submitted to represent Kildare along with the Lexington, Kentucky entry, in the international competition.

Application forms and conditions available from Kildare County Arts Officer. Closing dates for entries 8th February 2002.
