Artyfacts Cover Design

The image on the cover of this edition of Artyfacts was produced by a group of students from Rathangan Post-Primary School, in association with Kildare Artsquad. 29 primary and secondary schools from around the county participated in the Banner project. The banners adorned the main street of Newbridge to mark the community open day of Riverbank in September.

This project is one, in a series of outreach programmes from Riverbank. Best wishes toNuala Power, Brenda Brady, Oonagh O’Brien, Kate Connaughton, Caoimhe Mc Guckin, Rebekah Carroll, Michael Gannon, Claire Noons, Joanie Murphy, Karen Raymond and Donagh Harringtonwho have left Kildare Artsquad, after a years training in Riverbank and in the community. Welcome to new members of the team.

Literature

‘Brigit of Kildare’ a book by Ann Egan celebrates the life of the Brigit in poetry, prose and paint. Seamus Hosey (RTE Radio One) comments that Ann ‘weaves the various strands of this fabulous tale into a rich tapestry that enchants the ear and warms the heart’. To mark St. Brigid’s Day, Ann will read from her book in Athy library on Tues 29th, in Celbridge Library on Wed 30th and Naas library on Thurs 31st January from 8-10pm. She will be accompanied by harpist Teresa O’Donnell. The book is on sale in libraries countywide.

 

Admission is free and all are welcome.
