Evening Lecture Series 2002
Kildare Library and Arts Service will host an evening art lecture series in early Spring. The Impressionism lecture series will compliment the opening of the Millennium wing of the National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin in January 2002 which celebrates Monet, Renoir and the Impressionist landscape. The Irish lectures are highly topical given the recent discovery of two gold Bronze Age torcs found in Co. Mayo.
a. The Impressionists facilitated by Maebh O’Regan
Lecture 1: Introduction to Impressionism. Who were the Impressionists? What made their style of painting so different?
Lecture 2: The Secret Impressionists. Exploring the work of Frederick Bazille and Female Impressionists
Lecture 3: Post-Impressionists – the way forward. Examining the turbulent relationship between Van Gogh and Gauguin.
b. Irish Art facilitated by Elizabeth Kelly
Lecture 1: Exploring Irelands Gold – Bronze Age Artefacts
Lecture 2: The Golden Age of Art in Ireland – Metal Work
Lecture 3: Other treasures from the Golden Age of Art
c. Mounting, Framing and Hanging an Art Exhibition facilitated by Catríona Fallon All lectures will run from 8 to 10pm*
