Thunder Drums at the Special Olympics
Thunder Drums, Irelands first TAIKO Drumming Band are
based in Newbridge. Inspired and led by percussionist Eddie O’Neill, Thunder Drums has been invited to perform at the Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics Games in Dublin, in June. Playing a central role in possibly the biggest event being staged in the country this year, with world-wide media coverage, is indeed a tremendous coup for the band. Kildare County Council is delighted tosupport the Thunder Drums in this endeavour.
TAIKO drumming is a traditional Japanese art form that blends strength, stamina and power, with delicate touch and rhythmical control. With choreographed movements, and deep thunderous sound, TAIKO is the “beast” of all drumming sounds.
