Childrens Summer Festival 2003

Libraries around the County will again buzz in a hive of arts activity for the ever popular Children's Summer Festival from 22nd - 25th July. Participating Libraries are Celbridge, Maynooth, Naas, Newbridge and Athy. All arts activities in libraries are free of charge.

Membership of the library is free for children under 18yrs.

Irish History Live - Michael Moylan

Stories from the mists of time come to life with yarns that captivate, enthral, terrify and amaze using costume and weapons. maybe try out a musket, pistol, sabre, sword or pike. Tests tactics and discuss strategies. Experience history for yourself with real artefacts of the time.

The Magic of Dance - Cathy O'Kennedy

Making dances and preforming them is at the heart of this two-hour workshop. This season the event includes a Book-Search, a new twist to the process of inquiring around themes of interest to children, designed to spark the imagination and help children to discover that books normally sitting on shelves , have a life that can be translated into dance. Dance Artists and the library staff lead the children in a new way to bring books to life through dance, and who knows in the process develop the choreographers and performers of the future.

Tales from the "Bad Guy" - Liam Farrell

This presentation will focus on the "True Story" of the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf. Retelling these much-loved fairy stories from the bads guy's point of view. Liam encourages lots of audience participation and he will be appropriately dressed as the "Bad Guy". Parents are encouraged to join in the workshops.
