Terra Liquid Minerals (Athy) wins National Award

National Enterprise Awards

Agri-business Terra Liquid Minerals has been named the overall winner of the National Enterprise Awards, which took place in Dublin last night (Thursday). Terra Liquid Minerals provides an automated dosing system that adds minerals to cows' drinking water.

The Athy-based firm was set up by two brothers in 2012 and provides an automated dosing system that adds minerals to cows' drinking water.

The business employs ten people and announced a €2m expansion programme late last year.

Other winners announced last night included "Get The Shifts Ltd", which won Best Start-Up. Burren Precast Concrete won the best export award while Cyc-lok Ltd secured the innovation award.

The National Enterprise Awards were originally set up in 1998 to celebrate the achievements of the country's micro-enterprises and small businesses.

According to a survey by the Local Enterprise Offices, previous winners of the National Enterprise Awards now employ 832 people and generate €131m in sales a year.

This includes €58m worth of export sales to 52 countries. Former winners include Irish Yogurts, Obelisk and DigiWeb.

The Minister for Trade, Employment, Business, EU Digital Single Market and Data Protection, Pat Breen, said the awards are "a fitting way to recognise the contribution of Ireland's most innovative, strategic and adaptive businesses, and to put their success stories into the national spotlight as an example to others."

"This year's winners, like all those in previous years, represent the backbone of Ireland's enterprise success and contribute hugely to the economic vibrancy of their respective regions," the Minister added.
