Sheena Malone appointed as Kildare Culture Night Co-ordinator 2021

Kildare County Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Sheena Malone as Kildare’s Culture Night Co-ordinator.  Culture Night 2021 will take place on Friday 17th September.

Sheena Malone is an arts pratitioner with fifteen years’ experience in the cultural sector. Initially studying art history, her focus turned contemporary practice during her six years at The Douglas Hyde Gallery in Trinity College which she followed with a Masters in Curating at Stockholm University. In 2015, her project investigating the folklore and local history of Allenwood was selected for the CuratorLab research programme, resulting in the festival ‘Invisible Stories’.  With a longstanding interest in arts education, she has worked as project coordinator at InterACT English in Berlin and assisted in the development of their art curriculum. For the Dublin Fringe Festival, she devised and performed ‘The S.I. Witkiewicz Portrait Painting Firm’ which subsequently toured to the Stockholm Fringe Festival and the English Theatre Berlin. In 2020,  the Irish Embassy in Germany included her in their New Irish Creatives Festival.  She has collaborated with IASPIS, Supermarket Art Fair, Magasin III Konsthall and Satellite Berlin and spent two years as programme curator of Dada Post. Sheena is really excited to take on the role of coordinator for Culture Night, to assist in highlighting culture in all its forms and to bring attention to the wealth of talent throughout the county of Kildare.
