- to provide a co-ordinated approach to the use of the Canal as
a significant economic, social and tourist resource capable of
attracting funding from a range of sources.
- to harness and enhance the awareness of the local communities
in relation to the development potential of the canal related
area, to support local development efforts and to provide for
the needs of the local community.
- to promote an increased level of economic development, facilitate
anticipated growth in leisure and recreation use, and to stimulate
other economic development opportunities available to the private
sector and the local community.
- to conserve and enhance the natural, cultural and built heritage
of the area, particularly associated with the canal, as an important
heritage and amenity resource.
