Irish National Stud & Gardens

The Japanese Gardens, St. Fiachra's Garden & the Horse Museum

The Irish National Stud & Gardens belongs to the people of Ireland.

It  is home to some of the most magnificent horses and gorgeous gardens.

Its central objective is to produce thoroughbreds for Ireland that are capable of being crowned champions at home and abroad.

History

In 1943 the Irish Government took over the land and buildings at the National Stud and in 1945 the Irish National Stud Company Ltd. was formed and it took over the running of the Stud in 1946.

Boarding and Foaling

The Irish National Stud based in Tully, County Kildare provides long and short term facilities for mares, foals, yearlings and racehorses out of training.

The first class facilities are used by international breeders from around the world.

Gardens

The Irish National Stud’s Japanese Gardens are renowned throughout the world and are the finest of their kind in Europe.

They also provide comfort to the soul, achieving the objective that was set out when the gardens were created between 1906 and 1910.

St. Fiachra’s Garden was designed in 1999 by award-winning landscape architect Professor Martin Hallinan.

The garden commemorates St. Fiachra, the patron saint of gardeners.

It provides a perfect partner to the Irish National Stud’s Japanese Gardens.

Restaurant

The restaurant at the Irish National Stud serves fresh, wholesome food, hot dishes, sandwiches, salads and wraps as well as freshly baked breads, scones, desserts and cakes.
