Pathway to Life

Pathway to Life

Victoria Bridge

I know each
Tree in the wood by name
Birds that sing
Are almost tame
Waters lapping
Soothe my mind
When I’m here
I know I’ll find
The mystery of tranquillity
Elms naked in the flush of green
Mill is silent
By the running stream
Men who built the bridge
In 1837
All dead now
And gone to heaven
Scenes they saw
I see tonight
July evening
Dimming light
Red lane
Purple trees that show
Here our children grow
Amid the streams
And woods supreme
Begin their lives
With this dream
