Caragh Road, Entrance; New Civic offices, Allocation of lands

(a) “That this Council put a proper entrance at the soccer grounds at Caragh Road”.

The Town Clerk informed the meeting that a new entrance will be installed in conjunction with the housing development at Caragh Road to ensure a safe access for all persons concerned.

Motion agreed by the meeting.

(b) “That the wall at the entrance to the new Civic Offices is removed and see-through hoarding be erected.”

The Mayor indicated that he had taken this matter up with the Builder.

Motion was agreed by the meeting.

(c) “That a date be set to deal with all of the allocation of lands etc to the various organisations”.

The Town Clerk read correspondence received from Enable Ireland and the Saplings School.

Cllr. Moore stated that some of the organisations were awaiting Ministerial Approval.

There followed a brief discussion regarding the allocation of lands to Enable Ireland and the Saplings.

To consider motions and correspondence received.

The Town Clerk referred to the 2 participants from Naas in the Special Olympics and recommended that a grant of €500.00 each be approved. This was approved by the meeting.

The Town Clerk read correspondence received from the Moat Club and asked the Members to give consideration to the nominations for the Board of the Moat Theatre. It was agreed that this would be discussed at the June meeting. Cllr. Glennon stated that some groups are being excluded from using the Moat due to the high rates being charged.

The Town Clerk read a notice of motion received from Kilrush Town Council “That this Council calls on the Minister for Education to reconsider current proposal to reintroduce third level college fees”. This was noted by the meeting.

The Town Clerk read a letter of thanks received from Naas GAA.

The Town Clerk read a letter of thanks received from Naas Easter Parade Committee.

The Town Clerk read a letter of thanks received from St. Mary’s College regarding the grant of €450.00 for the cost of the choral concert.

The Town Clerk informed the meeting that correspondence had been received from the AMAI outlining the format for the Annual Conference to be held in Wexford on 11th – 13th September 2003.

The Town Clerk informed the meeting regarding a conference organised by Kilkenny County Council to be held on Friday 6th June entitled “Women making a difference”. No nominations put forward by the meeting.

The Town Clerk informed the meeting that the General Council of County Councils is holding it Annual Conference in Cork on 30th and 31st May 2003.

The Town Clerk informed the Members that IPBMI had forwarded a copy of the Directors Report and Statement of Accounts a copy of which was forwarded to Cllr. Moore the Councils nominee on IPBMI Ltd.
